AppleSox Out Scores Bells
The Bellingham Bells fell to the Wenatchee AppleSox 12-5 at Paul Thomas Field at Wenatchee Valley Community College Saturday night.
Bellingham opened and closed the game scoring runs, one in the first frame and three in ninth, but fell short thanks to a nine run second inning for Wenatchee.
Austin Pinorini swung at the first pitch of the game and delievered a triple. One batter later, Kyle Stowers drove in Pinorini to put the Bells in front 1-0.
The second inning would see Wenatchee bring 12 men to the plate, pound at five hits and score 9 runs. Holden Powell (4-3) was tagged with only four earned runs in the frames thanks to two Bells errors. The UCLA Bruin struck out three and picked up the loss for Bellingham.
Bellingham got one back in the top of the fourth, as Chase Illig singled and scored all the way from first on a Max Flower double, cutting the Bells defecit to 9-2 after three and a half.
Cooper Misic, Zach Grech, Tommy Paul threw the final six innings for Bellingham. Misic fired three innings, surrendering two runs while striking out two. Grech worked two innings, allowing one run and fanning one. And Paul tossed a scoreless eighth inning to close it out for the Bells.
Former Bell Colin Maier earned his sixth win of the season for the AppleSox, as the Washington State Cougar pitched seven innings allowing two runs and striking out six.
Bellingham falls to 5-7 in the second half, and 21-19 overall while the Applesox improve to 7-6 in the second half and 22-18 overall.
The Bells return to action on Sunday evening at 6:05 against the Wenatchee AppleSox.
