Bend Beats Bells
The Bend Elks defeated the Bellingham Bells 10-0 in Bend on Tuesday Evening.
The loss drops Bellingham to 18-14, 2-3 in the second half and 4-4 through eight games of a nine game road trip.
Bend improves to 16-19 and 4-4 in the second half with the win.
The bright spot on the evening for Bellingham was Merle Rowan-Kennedy from University of Puget Sound. The right hander tossed five and two-thirds innings, surrendering 4 runs on five hits while striking out 4 and walking just one.
The final two runs the Seattle native was charged with came on a two run home run from Matt Kroon on the final pitch Rowan-Kennedy fired on the evening.
Bend scored one run in the second and third innings, two more in the sixth, and put the game out of reach in the seventh with six more runs. The Elks scored 10 runs in total on 8 Elks hits and six Bellingham errors, to the delight of the crowd of 2,309 people at Vince Genna Stadium in Bend.
Kyle Stowers, Ernie Yake and Chase Illig each had two hits for the Bells on the night.
The Bells finish up their series against Bend on Wednesday evening at 6:35pm.
