The Bellingham Bells fell to the Bend Elks 13-3 in Bend on Monday Night.
The Elks scored 10 of the final 11 runs in the game to defeat Bellingham, after the Bells cut the defecit to just one run, at 3-2.
The Bells trailed 3-0 heading to the top of the fifth inning, when 2017 all-star Chase Illig delievered for the Bells, singling home Austin Pinorini and Dean Lawson for a two RBI base knock, and closing the Bells gap to 3-2.
Following a two run bottom half of the fifth for Bend, Bellingham answered back with a Ryan Mendoza solo homerun to close the gap to 5-3, that was as close as the Bells would get on the evening.
Following Mendoza's second homerun of the season, the Elks scored the final 8 runs of the game to shut the door on their 15th win of the season. The Elks are now 15-19 on the season, 3-4 in the second half, while the Bells fell to 18-13 and 2-2 in the second half.
The Bells will retake the field against Bend Tuesday evening, Merle-Rowan Kennedy is expected to start for Bellingham.
