Bells Clip Falcons
A pitcher’s duel broke out at Joe Martin Field Wednesday night, but the Bells emerged victorious by a score of 2-1.
The scoring tonight started in the 6th inning, the Falcons struck first with a solo home run to deep right field off of the bat of Kevin Morgan, but the Bells came back with a solo shot of their own from Chase Strumpf, this time to left field and that made the game the 1-1.
The Bells took the lead for good in the bottom of the 8th. Dean Lawson was hit by a pitch to start things off with one out, then Andru Cardenas walked and Shane Hanon singled to left to load the bases. Chase Strumpf then stepped up and hit a sac fly to deep center for his second RBI and the game winner.
Great pitching and defense was the story in tonight’s game the Bells locked down the Falcons all night. For the Bells Nick Silva started and went 6 strong innings while only giving up one earned run on 4 hits and striking out 3. Brian Way came in in the 7th and fired one scoreless inning and Hunter Haworth finished with 2 innings of shutout baseball and 2 strikeouts, he also picked up the win.
With the win the Bells are in excellent position to return to Joe Martin Field for a playoff game on Tuesday August 9th, they have a 2.5 game lead over Walla Walla with 3 games left.
The Bells take the field again Friday August 5th for their first game of a three game series in Wenatchee against the Applesox at 7:05. Pre-game coverage starts at 6:35 on 930 AM KBAI with Tom Prizeman.
