Bellingham Bells; Pitching Foundation & Bright Future in The West Coast League

Digging deep into the source of baseball in the United States, you can’t help but find yourself in parts of the country where the lime light rarely touches. In these places, such as Bellingham Washington, baseball is still part of the fabric, lifestyle and culture. Collegiate Summer Baseball may not be the life line for Major League Baseball, but it sure is the pulse of the game in general. As long as the United States supports these smaller markets and their future ball players, baseball will thrive. The West Coast League is one of those leagues that wrap themselves in the games history while standing in the ambiances of ball parks that still breathe the static of old radio transmissions. The Bellingham Bells are a team within that league that posted a 21-32 record in 2011 and struggled to score runs. Still, not only do they have a great pitching to cling on to, they also have a couple of former Major League players on their advisory board, they have great coaching, and a brand new GM in Nick Caples. I recently had the chance to talk to Nick about his previous experience within the league, his review of the 2011 season, his outlook for 2012, the vibe with his coaching staff, Joe Martin Field, the players cast of great players that have graced Bellingham,  and what he expects from things in the future. About the Bellingham Bells

The Bellingham Bells are a summer collegiate, wood bat baseball team and a member of the West Coast League.  During the months of June, July & August, the Bells compete in a 57-game season, playing home games at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham and traveling to compete with other WCL teams in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia. The Bells strive to contribute to a strong and vibrant community through affordable, family-friendly entertainment.
