Two San Francisco Dons to Pitch for Bells in 2012
The Bells have signed two pitchers from the 2011 West Coast Conference champion University of San Francisco to play in Bellingham for the summer of 2012. The Bells are excited about the additions of Houston Hibberd and Logan West to the pitching staff.
Houston Hibberd, a native of Los Gatos, CA, is currently a junior at USF after transferring over from West Valley Community College in Saratoga, CA. Hibberd will competing for a slot in the USF rotation for 2012 after having a stellar year out of the bullpen the previous season being named the conference Reliever of the Year. Bells pitching coach Jim Clem is looking forward to working with Hibberd, stating "he is a proven strike thrower and has a reputation for being a workhorse and a tough competitor."
Logan West is from Concord, CA and is entering his freshman season at USF. The 6'5" West attended De la Salle high school and finished his prep career with a complete game, 1 hit performance in the California section championship. "Logan is a talented right handed pitcher who is known for having great composure, and also has very good command of all of his pitches" said Clem.
Hibberd and West will play alongside Derek Atkinson with the Bells this summer. Atkinson has signed to play at USF for the 2012-2013 academic school year.
