Sampson, Ochoa, Lane, and Gelalich Named to 2011 West Coast League All Star Team

Portland, Oregon, Tuesday, July 19, 2011 - West Coast League president Ken Wilson announced the league's 2011 All-Star teams as voted on by fans, league coaches and major league scouts.


The East Division team, coached by Ed Knaggs of Wenatchee, features ten AppleSox, including ace pitcher Owen Jones of the University of Portland.  Jones leads the league with five wins.


The West Division All-Star team, coached by Brooke Knight of the Corvallis Knights, features eight selections from the Knights and seven from the Cowlitz Black Bears, including star outfielder Kyle Garlick of the University of Oregon.  Garlick is second in the league with a .350 batting average and third with 21 RBIs.


The league's All-Star event is the fourth in league history, the first since 2008, and will be held Tuesday, July 26th in Corvallis, Oregon.  Game time is 7:15 pm at Goss Stadium.  Gates open at 5:00 pm with a Home Run Derby at 5:30 pm.

About the Bellingham Bells

The Bellingham Bells are a summer collegiate, wood bat baseball team and a member of the West Coast League.  During the months of June, July & August, the Bells compete in a 57-game season, playing home games at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham and traveling to compete with other WCL teams in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia. The Bells strive to contribute to a strong and vibrant community through affordable, family-friendly entertainment.
