Fassold Tabbed WCL Player of the Week

06/28/2010 1:05 PM Bellingham Bells starter Cody Fassold has been named the West Coast League player of the week, league officials announced Tuesday, after shutting out Moses Lake on Friday, June 25, en route to his second win of the season.

Fassold allowed just six hits and struck out seven in the complete game victory against the Pirates. It was his second win in as many outings for the Gaston, Ore., native. Fassold is no stranger to the West Coast League. In 2008 and 2009, he pitched for Wenatchee where he compiled a 6-1 record in two seasons with the AppleSox.

The Lewis-Clark State product is now 2-0 with a 1.16 ERA in three starts for Bellingham and leads the WCL with 30 strikeouts in 23 1/3 innings on the hill.

Fassold is next scheduled to take the mound on Wednesday, June 30 as the Bells take on the Walla Walla Sweets as part of the Banner Bank Day Game beginning at 12:35 p.m. at Joe Martin Field.
