Bells Pound Knights 15-2, Take Series

06/08/2010 10:17 PMHaight_001.jpgAfter picking up the win in Monday’s 12-inning contest, the Bellingham Bells’ Ben Ruff suited up as the designated hitter Tuesday and finished with three hits in three at bats to pace the way in Bellingham’s 15-2 drubbing of Corvallis.

Bellingham broke the game wide open in the second after the first four batters reached base. Charlie Markson and Frank Desico, both from Notre Dame, plated the first two runs of the frame before Junnior Dishmey-Perez collected the first of his two doubles and two of his four runs batted in.

Jake Haight picked up the win for the Bells after throwing six innings in which he surrendered just two runs on eight hits—both runs were scored on a two-run home run by Daniel Dillard in Haight’s final inning of work. Danny Hennigs pitched the final three innings to pick up a three-inning save.

The runs continued to pile up for Bellingham with three runs in the fourth, one in the sixth, and six more in the seventh. The Bells were also aided by four Corvallis errors in the contest.

Bellingham and Corvallis wrap up the three game set Wednesday at Joe Martin Field. First pitch for Wednesday’s game is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. and the game can be heard live on the home of Bells baseball, AM 930 KBAI. Come out to the ballpark for Baseball Bingo presented by Amtrak Cascades. Tickets for the series finale are still available by calling the Bells Ticket Office at 527-1035.
