Emsley-Pai Drafted in 10th by Arizona

06/08/2010 1:05 PMBELLINGHAM, Wash. – Catcher Kawika Emsley-Pai of the Bellingham Bells has show great patience drawing four walks in just three games with the club. He didn’t need much patience Tuesday as his name was called by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 10th round of Major League Baseball’s 2010 First-Year Player Draft.

Emsley-Pai just completed his junior season at Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho, where he split time as a catcher and outfielder. Prior to attending LC State, Emsley-Pai attended the University of Texas at Austin for his freshman campaign.

In his three games with the Bells, the Mill Creek, Wash., native is hitting for a .222 average (2-for-9) with one double, a pair of runs batted in, three runs scored, and four walks.

The 301st overall pick in the 2010 draft, Emsley-Pai is the first current or former Bells player taken in this year’s class.
