Bells Get Swept in Yakima

07/04/2019 9:57 PM

The Bellingham Bells fell, 13-4, to the Yakima Valley Pippins in game three of their series tonight at Yakima County Stadium.

With the loss, the Bells suffered their first series sweep of the season, and have lost three consecutive games for the first time this summer.

Yakima Valley got out to an early lead with three runs in the bottom of the third inning against Bells starter Cole Tucker.

The Bells responded with one run in the fourth, but the Pippins broke things open with six runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 9-1 lead.

The Bells then went on to score one in fifth and two in the sixth, but two runs from Pippins in the bottom of the fifth and seventh innings helped them maintain the lead and finish things off, 13-4.

The Bells will travel to Victoria for the first of a three game series tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. Bellingham needs to sweep the HarbourCats to automatically qualify for the West Coast League playoffs the North Division’s first half champion. A loss in any of the three games guarantees Victoria a spot in the postseason.
