A total of 31 former Bellingham Bells have made it to the next level and appeared on or was active on an MLB affiliate roster in 2018. Below we will recap four former Bells on their past seasons as they continue to represent the Bells in the professionals!
Hunter Haworth - Lowell Spinners, Class A Short Season affiliate of the Boston Red Sox - 2015 & 2016 Bellingham Bell
Following his two successful seasons with the Bellingham Bells, Haworth was drafted in the 22nd round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox. After spending the 2017 season at the rookie ball level, Haworth advanced, splitting his this last season with the Lowell Spinners (Class A Short) and the Greenville Drive (Class A Long), before ending 2018 officially apart of the Spinners. He currently has a career ERA of 4.53 and an 8-7 record over 89.1 innings pitched. The Chico State and Bells Alum is still active in the Red Sox organization and is looking to continue his work towards reaching the next level.
Gabe Cramer - Wilmington Blue Rocks, Class A Advanced affiliate of the Kansas City Royals - 2014 Bellingham Bell
Gabe Cramer was signed by the Kansas City Royals in 2015 on a free agent contract. The right-handed pitcher spent his first season as a professional at the rookie ball level and moved up to Class A Full Season in 2016. In 2017 he moved up a level again to where he is currently a member of the Class A Advanced Willmington Blue Rocks. While his current status puts him on the 7-day disabled list, Cramer has had a successful showing so far in the minors. Over his 75.1 innings pitched, he has recorded 8 saves, 109 strikeouts to compliment a 6-5 record with an ERA of 4.18.
Jack Klein - Idaho Falls Chukars, Rookie Level affiliate of the Kansas City Royals - 2014 Bellingham Bell
While Jack came to the Bells early in his collegiate career, he was able to grow at Stanford and be drafted in the 34th round of the 2017 MLB Draft. Klein has appeared in 23 games over his two seasons in the minors, recording 23 K's and one save with an ERA of 10.66. Klein is currently active inside the Kansas City Royals organization and joins former Bell Gabe Cramer in representing our program.
Jake Paulson - Akron RubberDucks, Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians - 2013 Bellingham Bell
Paulson has been currently climbing the ranks in the Clevland minor leagues as he was able to make the jump to Double-A during the 2018 season. After being drafted in the 27th round in 2014, Paulson has continued to show growth on the mound with a career ERA of 3.55. He appeared in 19 games over his 2018 Double-A season with an ERA of 3.04, 91 strikeouts, and a record of 8-5. Paulson has been able to continually improve as a pitcher and has represented the Bellingham Bells well at the minor league level.
Overall, the West Coast League has produced 293 former players in the pro baseball sphere during the 2018 season. To see a full list of those players, click here.
