Kelowna Takes Game #1 in the WCL North Divisional

08/10/2018 9:57 PM

The Kelowna Falcons defended their home field on Friday as they defeated the Bellingham Bells 4-2 in the first game of the West Coast League Divisional Series.

The Falcons got stellar pitching performances from Jared Akin, Isaac Olson and Cal Henke and compounded that with a steady offensive attack.
The Bells scored first after Matt James brought home Guthrie Morrison on a sacrifice fly in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.
Kelowna then scored three unanswered runs with the big blow being a solo home run from Taylor Wright to take a 3-1 lead.
The Bells got to within one run in the seventh inning when Matt McLain brought home Morrison to cut the lead to 3-2.
But the comeback attempt was short lived as the Falcons added another run in the bottom of the eighth before Cal Hencke came on in the ninth to get the save.
Kelowna take a 1-0 lead in the three game series and the Bells will look to even the series on Saturday night at 6:35 as the series shifts back to Joe Martin Field.
