Bells Drop Second Straight

07/29/2018 12:39 AM

The Portland Pickles were able to hold off the Bellingham Bells in the second game of the series to win their fifth straight game by a final of 6-4.

The Bells scored first when Ernie Yake hit his first homer in of the year to make it 2-0.
Nick Nastrini ran into trouble on the mound for the Bells in the bottom of the first but he limited the damage to just one run.
Portland took the lead in the third inning after Joey Cooper led off the inning with a homerun and they tacked on another to make it 3-2.
Portland would add another in the fifth and two more in the eighth to make it a 6-2 lead.
Then things got interesting.
The Pickles brought in their closer, Adam Davenport, in the ninth and he walked the first two batters.
Matt James then chopped a ball to third and Daniel Lopez made an error to load the bases.
The Bells pushed two runs across and had the go ahead run at the plate.
Connor Pellerin came on to replace Davenport and was able to strand the tying run at first to end the ballgame and give the Pickles their fifth win in a row, 6-4.
The Bells will look to avoid the sweep at 7:05 on Sunday.
