The Bellingham Bells defeated the Kelowna Falcons 4-3 at Elks Stadium in Kelowna on Saturday night.
Bellingham used a four run second inning to knock off Kelowna.
The Bells opened the scoring in the second. A pair of errors led to the first run for Bellingham, followed by an Ernie Yake RBI single that scored two and an Austin Pinorini RBI groundout that brought home Colby Barrick. Bellingham led 4-0 after one and a half innings.
Zach Pettway was terrific on the mound for Bellingham, fanning nine batters in six innings on the hill, allowing just one run to earn his fourth win of the summer. The UCLA Bruin is 4-0 on the 2017 campaign and the Bells are 6-1 in games he starts.
Second Year Bell, Keenan Lum tossed two scoreless innings of relief for the Bells, striking out and bridging the gap to the ninth inning.
In the ninth inning, another second year Bell went to work on the bump for Bellingham, Josh Zavisubin. Zavisubin made it dramtic in the ninth inning, surrendering two runs, but eventually shut the door for his third save of the summer.
Ernie Yake led the way for the Bells with a 2 for 4 effort with 2 RBIs, while Pinorini chipped a single and an RBI and Kody Matthews had a single and a run scored.
The Bells improve to 11-9 in the second half with the win, 1.5 games behind first place Victoria, where the Bells travel to next. Overall the Bells own the best record in the Northern Division and second best in the league at 27-20.
The Bells return to action tommorrow evening in Kelowna, first pitch is set for 6:05.
