The win matched the Bells’ WCL single season win record—a record established in 2009. Fassold (4-1) earned the victory after striking out three and allowing just five hits before Danny Hennigs tossed two hitless innings to finish the game.
At the plate, the Bells pounded out a season-high 17 hits. Chris Pierce, Charlie Markson, Cody Regis, and Mike Chiarelli each had three hits in the winning effort while Chris Sturdivant added a pair.
The Bells broke the game open early with a pair of runs in the first inning when Brady Locker hit a two-run double for his lone hit of the game. Bellingham benefited from a Sweets error in the second inning to score another run before plating two more in the fourth inning on back-to-back run scoring singles by Markson and Regis.
Already with a five run lead, the Bells put up four more runs in the seventh inning as their pitchers were in the middle of keeping Walla Walla hitless over the final 4 1/3 innings of play.
Despite being out of the playoff race, the Bells have strung together a three-game win streak to get their record back to .500 (22-22) on the season. Bellingham continues its road series against the Sweets on Saturday, July 31, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m. from Borleske Stadium in Walla Walla.
