It was a pitching duel the entire game as Bellingham’s Chase Brewer and Cowlitz’s Kirk Lind battled head-to-head. Brewer, who was tagged with the loss, looked great on the mound despite giving up an early first inning run. He worked seven complete innings and gave up five hits while striking out four.
But Lind came out of top after pitching 6 1/3 innings of two-hit baseball while striking out seven.
The Bells were on their heels the entire game after falling behind 1-0 in the first. Bellingham managed just three hits in the contest and Cowlitz was able to plate a second run in the ninth on an throwing error from the outfield that landed in an out of play zone.
Bellingham returns to action Friday, July 16 as the Bells open a two-game series against the Portland Bucks. First pitch for Friday’s game is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. and fans can purchase their tickets in advance by contacting the Bells Ticket Office at 527-1035.
