This is the second consecutive year that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has sponsored the Independence Day celebration at Joe Martin Field; the baseball game and post-game fireworks are the kickoff to an exciting Fourth of July weekend in Bellingham. Last year’s CBP Independence Day celebration and fireworks show drew the second largest crowd in Bells history with over 1,700 fans at Joe Martin Field.
Thanks in part to the sponsorship provided by CBP, general admission tickets to Friday’s game will cost just $2 at the ticket booth.
“This is one of those events that take a lot of time to pull together, but getting to see the final outcome and all the people at the ballpark having fun makes all the hard work worth every minute,” said Bells general manager Justin Stottlemyre. “Joe Martin Field can hold a lot of people, and together with our staff and everyone with CBP, we want to see the stadium packed on Friday.”
In addition to the exciting action on the field beginning at 6:35 p.m., fans will have the opportunity to get up close with some of the vehicles and equipment used every day by members of CBP.
Prior to the game, the Bells will have a special pre-game, on-field introduction that will include members of CBP taking the field alongside Bells players, the CBP Combined Honor Guard, and a flyover.
Ceremonial first pitches will also be thrown out by CBP staff members representing the CBP Office of Field Operations, CBP Office of Air and Marine, and U.S. Border Patrol.
Following all the action on the field, the fireworks show originating just behind the left field fence will take place shortly after the game’s end.
Tickets are still available for Friday’s Fourth of July weekend kickoff at Joe Martin Field. First pitch for Friday’s game is slated for 6:35 p.m. For more information, call the Bells Ticket Office at 360-527-1035.
