Bellingham Bells Alumni Pro Update

10/23/2018 11:11 AM
A total of 31 former Bellingham Bells have made it to the next level and appeared on or were active on an MLB affiliate roster in 2018. Below we will recap the past seasons of four former Bells as they continue to represent the Bells in the professionals!

Adrian Sampson - Texas Rangers - 2011 Bellingham Bell
Adrian Sampson was called up to "The Show" during the 2018 season for the Texas Rangers. This wasn't the first time he had suited up for an MLB game, as Sampson also suited up for the Mariners for one game during the 2016 season. Although the injury bug has plagued him since being drafted by Pittsburgh in 2012, he has still been able to sustain a long career, reaching the ultimate goal of pitching on a professional field. Over his MLB career, he has an ERA of 4.88, appearing in six games and starting five. He has also recorded 17 strikeouts from the big league mound. Sampson is still active and will continue to represent the Bells well at the professional level.

Hever Bueno - Arizona League Rangers, the Rookie Level affiliate of the Texas Rangers - 2014 Bellingham Bell
After being drafted in the 9th round of the 2016 MLB draft by the Texans, Bueno has bounced back and forth between their Rookie-level team and Class A Short Season affiliate, the Spokane Indians. Currently, he has a record of 2-1 with a career ERA of 4.86. Over the 11 games he has appeared in, he has also recorded 44 strikeouts during his 37 innings of work.

Michael Rucker - Tennessee Smokies, Double-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs - 2014 Bellingham Bell
Rucker has continued to climb the ranks within the Cubs organization after being drafted in the 11th round of the 2016 draft to Chicago. In 2018, he was called up to their Double-A affiliate and had great success. Going 9-6 in 2018, he finished the season with an ERA of 3.73 and 118 strikeouts, the most he has had in a season since being drafted. Rucker also was named Carolina Pitcher of the Week back-to-back times this last season and is still active within the Cubs organization.

Wynton Bernard - Tennessee Smokies, Double-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs - 2010 Bellingham Bell
After being drafted in the 25th round by the San Diego Padres in 2012, Bernard has now been a member of four professional organizations. Currently, Bernard is in the Cubs organization and is a current teammate of former Bell, Michael Rucker. Throughout his minor league career, he has appeared in 624 games across 10 teams with a career batting average of .285. He has also recorded 24 career home runs and 177 RBIs.
