Stottlemyre Promoted to General Manager

12/01/2009 11:21 AM

09-1201_Stottlemyre.jpgThe Bellingham Bells have promoted Justin Stottlemyre to general manager effective immediately. Stottlemyre has been working as the Bells director of sales following a September promotion. He was originally hired in May by Brett Sports & Entertainment to serve as the Bells media coordinator.

Stottlemyre joined the Bells with a rich history in the baseball industry. He started working in the sport in 2002 as a communications assistant with the Sioux Falls Canaries. After two years in Sioux Falls, Stottlemyre moved to Fargo, N.D., where he directed the communications and media relations department for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks of the independent Northern League. Since then, Stottlemyre has worked in the Baylor University athletic media relations department and on the Florida Marlins minor league media relations staff in Greensboro, N.C.

“Justin has only been with Brett Sports for a brief period of time, but he has already shown he has the ability to lead the Bells organization as we move into the future,” said Bells owner Bobby Brett. “He hit the ground running from day one and we felt naming him general manager was just the next logical step in successfully continuing to build Bells baseball Bellingham community.

“We are pleased to be able to have someone with Justin’s background in the business of baseball leading the Bells. He has a wide variety of experience working in baseball which has already proven beneficial for both him and the organization.”

Stottlemyre was born just outside Kansas City, Mo., and grew up in Sioux Falls, S.D. He earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management and administration, and mass communications from Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minn., and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in communications through South Dakota State University.

“I’ve been fortunate in the past to work for some great individuals that have helped me get to where I am today—this position is no different,” said Stottlemyre. “Bobby and the staff at Brett Sports & Entertainment have shown nothing but support for me from day one and now they have placed their trust in me to lead this organization. I’m extremely honored and excited about this new opportunity and look forward to building this organization into one of the best teams both on and off the field in the West Coast League.”

The Bellingham Bells kick off their sixth season in the West Coast League on Friday, June 4, 2010, against the Kelowna Falcons. For more information about the Bells 2010 schedule and for updated ticket information, visit the Bellingham Bells online at www.bellinghambells.com.
