Taubenheim Picks Up Winter Ball Win

Former Bells pitcher Ty Taubenheim picked up his first victory of the 2009 Winter Season after pitching six strong innings for the Naranjeros de Hermosillo (Hermosilla Orange Growers) of the Mexican Pacific League. Taubenheim allowed just two runs in his fifth appearance for the club. He is one of seven players on the squad who currently hold contracts with Major League affiliates.


Taubenheim, a graduate of Lynden High School, is currently 1-1 for Hermosilla with a 4.56 ERA. He played for the Indianapolis Indians, Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, over the summer. With Indianapolis, Taubenheim was 7-9 with a 3.65 ERA in 26 appearances.

The Bellingham Bells are a summer collegiate, wood bat baseball team and a member of the West Coast League.  During the months of June, July & August, the Bells compete in a 57-game season, playing home games at Joe Martin Field in Bellingham and traveling to compete with other WCL teams in Washington, Oregon and British Columbia.
